UPSET IN CUP
(N.Z. Press Association) SYDNEY. The J. B. Cummings-trained visitor. Natural Trump, upset a host of more highly fancied Sydney Cup candidates when he won the H. E. Tancred Cup <l4 miles) at Rosehill on Saturday. Natural Trump, a 25/1 chance, made the Sydney stayers look second rate as he came from seventh at the turn to win the race by a length and threequarters. Gallic Temple (12/1) was second with Koda Pen (100/1) third. Among the failures were Tails, Galllcus, Regal Jane and Royal Entrance (Bally Royal—Karenza Marie). Cummings has trained Natural Trump, a four-year-old by the American sire. Natural Bld. for only a short time. The gelding has bad two starts for him for two wins.
The Pakistan filly, Tropic Jewel, stamped herself the best Sydney three-year-old filly when she gallantly won the Flying Welter (six furlongs).
Tropic Jewel, heavily backed 6/4 favourite, came from fifth at the turn to win by threequarters of a length.
Mr S. Fox bought Tropic Jewel (Pakistan—Coral’s Lass) In New Zeeland for *5OOO. The filly has now earned *16,290 for Mr Fox and his wife.
