Scotland beat England for the third time in three matches when it won, 26-6, at Murrayfield on Saturday. It was the biggest victory margin Scotland had scored over England, in a match played to commemorate the first meeting between the two countries, in Edinburgh in 1871. Then, Scotland also won, by a goal and a try to a try, in the days before the modem scoring system had been adopted. There was no doubting Scotland’s dominance in Saturday’s game. The Scots scored a converted try in the first minute, was 8-0 soon afterwards, and never looked back. In all, Scotland scored five tries, four conversions and one penalty. England had a
