Withdrawals predicted
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) CANBERRA, March 28. The Australian Prime Minister (Mr McMahon) will announce the withdrawal of 700 Australian troops from Vietnam this week, the national newspaper, the "Sunday Australian” said today. The paper said that Australia’s Canberra-bomber squadron, tank-support units and engineer units were to be withdrawn, over six months.
Australian combat forces—two infantry battalions, in Phuoc Tuy province—would not be involved in the troop reduction.
