CENTENARY OF M.O.W.
National tour of display (W.Z. Press Association? WELLINGTON, March 25. A display incorporating photographs and models would tour the country over the next year to mark the centenary of the founding of the Public Works Department in 1871, said the Minister of Works (Mr Allen), today. The display, “Works 100”, was the largest mounted by a Government department in New Zealand, and would enable pepole to see in one place the wide range of the ministry’s activities, he said. Incorporating about 2000 sq. ft of photographic material, it would open in Wellington on April 19. It would go to Auckland early in May and then with a twin display, would be shown in a number of other centres, including Christchurch, where it would form part of the Industries Fair in August. Other centenary functions are also being planned by the Ministry of Works.
