Bequest for charity
(N,Z Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 26. The late Mrs Gertrude L. Puckey, formerly of Remuera, has left a bequest totalling $200,000 to Selwyn Village. The director of the Selwyn Foundation (Canon D. Casstate that the bequest must be used for the village’s Christ Hospital. Cation Caswell said that the money, together with the Government subsidy, “which could take several years to get,” would be used to double the capacity of the - hospital. Forty patients are at present accommodated. The trust officer for the New Zealand Insurance Company, Ltd (Mr H. G. Rickerby) said the money came from the legacy left by Mrs Puckey’s husband who died in 1936, and had built up over the years. Mrs Puckey also left money to various other charities.
