Five birdies in last nine
(N.Z. Press Assn.— Copyright) MIAMI. The young Californian, J. Heard, with the putting to match his long shots, scored five birdies in the second nine holes to take the lead in the $200,000 National Airlines open golf tournament yesterday. Heard carded a first-round six-under par 66 on the 6970-yard Miami course.. The defending champion, L. Trevino, was one stroke behind, with H. Irwin and M. Barber.
Brills..—National teams from Australia, Brazil, France, the United States (two) and Taiwan will represent their areas in the Bermuda Bowl contract bridge tournament at Taipei from May 7-17.
