15-ROUND FIGHT
Foster to defend (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) NEW YORK. The American, R. Foster, signed yesterday to defend his portion of the world light heavy-weight boxing championship against a fellow countryman, R. Anderson, in a 15-round bout at Tampa, Florida, on April 24. Foster, stripped of his title by the World Boxing Association but still recognised as champion by other major governing bodies, knocked out H. Carroll in four rounds at Scranton, Pennsylvania, on March 2, in his last defence.
In his last fight, Anderson outpointed Carrol] in 10 rounds at Ashland, Ohio, on November 18.
The W.B.A. took away Foster’s title last December for failing, to defend against a leading contender within a specified six-month period. V. Rondon, of Venezuela, stopped J. Dupree, of New Jersey, in six rounds at Caracas last February in a match to fill the W.B.A. version of the title.
