Pot explodes in kitchen
A man and his son were taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital with bums suffered when a pot of oil exploded on a stove in the kitchen of their home at 143 Wilsons Road yesterday.
Mr Paul van Bussel was treated for his injuries and discharged, but his son, Paul, aged 13, was admitted to Burwood Hospital where his condition last evening was satisfactory. One engine from the Sydenham Fire Station was called to the blaze at 4.20 p.m. but no damage was caused to the premises.
