House surgeon prize
The first P. Stanley Foster Memorial Prize was presented to Dr M. Summerfield, the junior surgical registrar at the Christchurch Hospital, on Wednesday evening. The prize will be awarded annually by the Christchurch Hospital Post Graduate Society for the senior house surgeon who shows the greatest promise in surgery.' Dr Summerfield was a house' surgeon last year. The Foster family has provided the prize as a memorial to Mr Foster who was a leading surgeon and a mem-' ber and chairman of the hospital committee of the North Canterbury Hospital' Board for many years.
