Retirement marked
Mr S. W. Armstrong, who is about to retire from the post of Conciliation Commissioner, was given an electric razor, a large crystal vase and a travel bag when he was bidden farewell yesterday by representatives of the trade union movement. On behalf of the large number of union secretaries and organisers present, the president of the Canterbury Trades Council (Mr R. A. Hill) paid tribute to Mr Armstrong’s contribution to better industrial relations.
