Education spending
Sir,—Under the heading, “Lincoln Space Shortage,” in Wednesday’s paper appeared this astounding statement: “This year there was a roll of 1020 full-time students but present facilities were designed for a roll of 550 students only.” It seems clear that the controllers of certain upper-level educational institutes have deliberately adopted a policy of increasing their intakes of students far beyond the planned capacity of their buildings and then expect the taxpayers to save them from the muddle resulting from their folly by providing an endless succession of lavishlyequipped buildings. I see no reason why more public money should be spent on Lincoln College or on any University in a similar plight until certain administrators exhibit better judgment.— Yours, etc., J.F.W.
