The grass track meeting organised by the Canterbury Region of the New Zealand Racing Drivers’ Club to raise funds for the Commonwealth Games will be held at Dunsandel on May 2, and there will be feature events for saloons, sports and racing cars, and veteran drivers. The latter event will be open to all retired racing drivers in their own saloon cars. There will be prize money for the main events, and a full programme of supporting events will be held. ¥ ¥ ¥

Team Trojan, which is in effect the works McLaren Formula 5000 team, will enter three cars in championship Formula 5000 event this season. The drivers will be the Tasman champion, G. Mcßae, and Ulf Norindef, who has now decided not to retire from racing. Mcßae and Norinder will drive new MlB cars, and the British

driver, R. Allen, will drive an MIOB.

The second team driver in the STP Oil Treatment March cars this season will be the Spanish driver Alex Soler Roig. The number one driver will be R. Peterson. y * 4F

A New Zealand Daimler and Lanchester Owners’ Club has been formed in Christchurch, and - the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr A. R. Guthrey) has consented to be the club’s first patron. The club will hold its first outing on Sunday, when competitions will be held at Tai Tapu from 2 p.m. The secretary of the new club is Mr C. G. Somerville, Flat 1, 22 Clare Road, Christchurch, and the first pre-

sident is Mr L. Wason, of 15 St Albans Street, Christchurch. ¥ ¥ ¥ The Auckland Car Club’s Pukekohe meeting on April 18 will include the North Island finals of the Bank of New South Wales saloon championship and the national touring car series. There will be supporting races for production saloons, Formula C and Formula Vee cars. ¥ ¥ ¥

Fifteen overseas drivers have now entered for the 2000-mile Heatway International Rally which will be run in the North Island early in May. Meanwhile, Castrol, Ltd, has announced that it will offer special' stage prizes to the value of $lOOO. Each special stage will carry a cash prize for fastest time, and the competitors in each class who win the most special stages will also receive cash prizes.
