Soil moisture
The Winchmore irrigation research station reported yesterday that the soil moisture deficit on the non-irrigated area at the station was 204 points compared with 24 points at the same time last year. The deficit had then been 200 points or greater on 85 days this season compared with 63 at the same time last season. The deficit on the irrigated area was 72 points. This area was last irrigated on March 17 and can next be irrigated next Wednesday.
