CENTENNIAL STAMPS
' (NZ. I ress Association) WELLINGTON, Mar. 24. Three centennial stamps will be issued by the Post Office on May 12. The 3c, 4c, and 5c stamps will. commemorate ■ the centenaries of the city of Auckland, the founding of Palmerston North, and of local government in Invercargill. Each stamp features its city’s coat of arms. The 3c stamp is green and gold, the 4c pink and gold, and the 5c blue and gold.
The stamps were designed by Mr M. Conly, of Christchurch. They were printed in Tokyo by the Japanese Government Printing Bureau by photogravure. A specially-designed envelope will be used for the unaddressed cover service and orders will be accepted until May 11.
