Withdrawal from Vietnam
Sir, —May 1 ask B. P. Lilburn how many South Vietnamese he has asked, if they would like to go ’’home” to North Vietnam? If his answer is nil, I would suggest he take a trip Over there,, along with many other misinformed people and see for themselves what is really , going on. Perhaps then they will write to local papers and say how much the South Vietnamese despise communism and its evils.—Yours, etc., ONE WHO KNOWS. March 22, 1971.
Sir,—May I suggest that “M.G.H.’s” continuous cry of “American imperialism” is, in actual fact, a cover-up and diversion from the real issue of Soviet imperialism? Both Nazism and communism have, as their ultimate goals, world domination, although their means of conquest differ considerably. Whereas Hit-
ler’s Nazis employed naked aggression as their means (resulting in World War II), Soviet Communists are engaged in a far more cleverly devised, intricate system of “internal aggression,” by (1) unnoticeably infiltrating agents into foreign governments, trade unions, church bodies, etc; (2) economic aid to underdeveloped nations, with “strings attached”; (3) deceitful propaganda, thereby weakening the whole political and economic structure of some country, so that it is only a matter of time before that State falls into greedy Soviet hands. Egypt is a typical victim of this disguised process of Soviet imperialism. Consequently, while the cry of “Soviet imperialism” is seldom heard in the west, it is potentially a far greater danger than any of the harmless claims of “M.C.H.” and company.—Yours, etc., THE SPRINGBOK. March 24, 1971.
