Taiwan
Sir,—With much pomp and ceremony the representative of the American dominated island of Taiwan was greeted in Christchurch recently. How unrealistic can the authorities become! Taiwan is a large island, and is a province of China, and it is only the American fleet that prevents its return to the motherland. How can New Zealand expect to even commence relations with the great Chinese nation while such shows are put on? The people of New Zealand should make up their minds on which side they belong.— Yours, etc., P.J.A. March 24, 1971.
