Contribution to fund

WZ.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, March 23. New Zealand will contribute to a new Commonwealth assistance plan announced in London by the Commonwealth Secretariat yesterday. The plan has a target this year of $643,000 nearly all of which has already been contributed or promised. Seventeen countries have joined Canada having promised to provide 40 per cent of the fund to a limit of $300,000 for the last year, and a continuing 40 per cent guarantee, amounting to an eventual gift of $1,714,000. Britain is giving 30 per cent —about $192,900 for the first year—and all other participating countries including New Zealand will put up the remaining 30 per cent Australia has not contributed to the new plan.
