Big contract gained

Press Association) (NEW PLYMOUTH, Mar. 24. j Fletcher Construction Company, Ltd, has won a multimillion dollar contract as Imain sub-contractor for five 'boiler units for the New PlyImouth power station. j The over-all contract, for five 120-megawatt boiler units, has been awarded to International Combustion, Ltd, of England, whose New Zealand agent is Cory-Wright and Salmon, Ltd, of Wellington.

Fletchers is expected to begin preliminary work in establishing a camp for workmen early next month. Mr J. H. Macfarlane, Internationa! Combustion’s representative on the project, said today a letter of intent had been handed to the Fletcher company. This means the company had virtually won the contract. The sub-contract covers erection of the boiler house steel work, 11 pressure parts, firing and ancillary plant.
