Miner dead
(N.Z. Press Association) PAEROA, March 23. A miner was found dead this morning at the foot of an almost vertical shaft in the Consolidated Silver Mining Company’s mine near Paeroa. He was
Thomas Donaldson, aged 25. single, of Hikutaia, near Paeroa.
Mr Donaldson had been in charge of the compressor at the mine entrance during the night while shift workers did blasting deep inside the mine. When the miners came out this morning just before 6 a.m„ Mr Donaldson remained behind to repair his car. When the morning shift went down the mine they found Mr Donaldson’s body at the bottom of a 67ft shaft.
