ADDINGTON MARKET Limited interest in store sheep

Shorn Romney lambs excepted, .store sheep again met a very weak inquiry at the Addington market yesterday.

Two-toothed ewes had their poorest sale of the season, values falling $1 a head. There were no sales at more than $7.

Adult ewes also met a very limited inquiry. Some of the Romneys sold fairly well, but many of the fine-woolled ewes changed hands at less than $3.

The store sheep yarding was 11,590, compared with 12,325 last week, and consisted of 1830 ewe lambs, 2820 wether lambs, 2075 twotooth ewes, and 4865 adult ewes. Store lambs With the exception of a few pens of shorn Romneys, store lambs again met a very weak sale. Fine-woolled wether lambs. In particular, reached their lowest point of the season, with most sales in the $2.50 to $3.50 range. Some of the small lambs changed hands at less than $l. The yarding Included a consignment of about 500 shorn Romney wether lambs from the Okuku area, and considering the state of the market in general, they sold well, with prices ranging from $4.50 to $6.05. Very small shorn Romneys sold quite weU at $3.50 to $4, and woolly Romneys mainly from 84 to $4.55. Down cross lambs in killable condition sold to $5.25, with other sales from $4 to $4.45. As In the wether lamb section, a useful entry of shorn Romney ewe lambs sold well, considering the conditions, but other ewe lambs met a fairly hard sale. The best of a line of more than 600 shorn Romneys sold at $4.90 to $5, with other Romneys at $3.90 to $4.20. Fine-woolled ewe lambs sold much at wether

lamb price. There was only an odd sale at more than *4. Sales of store lambs Included: Wether lambs: Conway Hills (Parnassus), 146 Corrledales at $3.05 to $3.55; E. J. The yarding of a little more than 2000 head included a good selection of Romneys, but Tn contrast with most sales so far this season, they met very limited competition. Compared with last week, values were about *1 a head back, with only an odd sale at *7. Most of the entry sold from $5,80 to *6.60. A small entry of fine-woolled ewes met a very weak Inquiry, values ranging from *5 to $6.20. Sales of two-tooth ewes Included:— G. R. H. Smith (Hororata), 176 Romneys at $6.20 to *6.80; D. W. Calder (Little River), 80 Perendale cross at *7; Davaar, Ltd, (Motunau), 80 Romneys at $6.80. Adult sheep With no break In the dry spell, the market for adult sheep again had little life about it. If anything, the plainer class of ewe was again easier, with frequent sales at less than $3. An odd pen of Romney ewes in forward condition met a reasonable sale, but some of the fine-woolled ewes with good mouths had little inquiry, and sales at reasonable money were hard to make. There were odd sales at $4.50 to $5.20, but most of the entry changed hands at much less than $4. Bidding on quite a number of the plainer ewes started at less than $2. Useful Romney ewes sold from *4.20 to $5.10, with sales of younger Romneys at $5.60 and $5.85.
