Warning on blankets
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 23. “It should be re-emphasised that electric blankets switched on while in a folded state are prone to cause fire,” said the Wellington Coroner (Mr A. D. McGregor), at an inquest today into the death of Alfred Butler McDonagh, aged 74, of Newtown, in a house fire on January 5.
The Coroner found that death had been caused by asphyxia after inhalation of smoke and carbon monoxide. He said the evidence did not show clearly whether the electric blanket had been defective.
