Truck jammed
This large, articulated furniture truck became stran- ’ ded at a’ sharp bend in Clifton Terrace last evening and, unable to move back or forwards, blockedthe road for more than an hour and a half until the rear of the trailer was lifted around by a breakdown removal truck. The truck had entered the bend from the uphill side, but the acute angle and narrowness of the road at that point meant that, although the cab and front part of the trai-ler-extended right across the'road, the rear of the - trailer Was still not past the bend. T
The left-hand side of the truck was wedged hard up against a stone wall and suffered some minor damage. Traffic built up on either side of the truck and at one stage there were about 24 cars held up by the blockage. Residents of the area said that this was not the first time a large vehicle had become jammed across the road at the comer. Buses regularly experienced difficulty in negotiating the bend and bulk conconcrete trucks servicing the growing amount of residential building at the top of the Terrace also had their problems, they
