Vikki Carr

About a year ago, while listening to a late disc show, Stewart Morris heard a record that astounded and delighted him. At the time, Morris was producer of the 8.8.C.’s “Juke Box Jury” and naturally sat through a great deal of pop music; However, he thought that Vikki Carr had something special to offer and the next Monday he asked to hear her L.P.s. Says Morris: “They were terrific and I realised that she had a tare quality. I got the idea of doing a programme starring her alone.” Vikki’s first show was screened and it had an outstanding reception. A second programme was shown and the first one repeated. Again viewers wrote in to say how much they enjoyed her performance.

Vikki is from South California and sometimes becomes so involved in her songs that she cries while performing. “I can’t help it,” she confesses, “I’m a very emotional girl and when lyrics reach me I really feel them.” The two Vikki Carr programmes have been bought by the N.Z.B.C.
