Record catch by trawler
(N.Z Press Association* GISBORNE, March 22. A record catch for Gisborne of 139,0001 b of fish was unloaded yesterday by the J. Wattie Canneries trawler Marine Countess. Most of the catch was jack mackerel, which the cannery exports. The catch was made over a two-day period off the Hawke’s Bay coast, just south of Cape Kidnappers. Mr S, Marsden, the skipper of the Marine Countess, said that he was forced to let as much go as he caught because the ship’s storage facilities could not cope.
