MARCHING TITLES
Top placing to Lochiel (N.Z. Press Association) WANGANUI. Lochiel (Wellington) and Canadian Guards (Auckland), rivals from many marching championships, shared the top honours in the New Zealand Girls* Marching Association senior championships on Spriggens Park, Wanganui, at the week-end. Lochiel emerged the champion at the end of a long, hot day, and Canadian guards were runners-up. Third was another Auckland team, Hussars.
The champion leaders reflected the placing of their teams, with W. Donaldon (Lochiel) taking the top honours, and M. Bryson (Canadian Guards) second. Results:—
Champion team (Parry Cup): Lochiel (Wellington); runner-up (Dunkerton Shield), Canadian Guards (Auckland); third place (Aulsebrook Rosebowl), Hussars (Auckland). Display (Block Shield): Lochiel. Aggregate (Hanna Shield): Lochiel. Leaders (Lustre Shield): W. Donaldson (Lochiel); second leader, M. Bryson (Canadian Guards); third leader, M. Baker (Skellerup - MHitaires, Canterbury). Leader on march (Dorothy Bartlett Cup): W. Donaldson (Lochiel). Uniform (Richard Hudnut Trophy): Militaires (Hawke’s Bay) and Ingle Guards (Taranaki) first equal. Champion instructor (Instructor’s Cup): Mrs Colleen Williamson (Lochiel). Marsh past (Legion of Frontiersmen Cup): Lochiel.
