T.T. won by Shirriffs
(N.Z. Press Association) TE AROHA. The New Zealand miniature tourist trophy championship yesterday was dominated by the Palmerston North motorcyclist, M. Shirriffs. Riding a 250 c.c. Yamaha, he won both the 250 c.c. and the 350 c.c. events. The racing was robbed of considerable interest when early in the day the former world champion, H. Anderson (Hamilton), announced his withdrawal from the 350 c.c. event because of a mechanical failure.
Anderson made a clean sweep of the three over 350 c.c. events on a borrowed machine and chased Sherriffs hard in the 250 c.c. event.
