BIG RACE PRACTICE
Huhne 2nd fastest (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) BRANDS HATCH. The Scot, J. Stewart, lapping at more than 110 miles an hour in his Tyrrell Fbrd, set the pace yesterday in practice for the “Race of Champions,” Associated Press reported. In dry conditions all the drivers vastly improved on their showing of the previous day on a rain-drenched track. Stewart lapped the 2.65mile circuit in Imin 26.45ec, and with only one short practice session left, looked certain to start favourite.
His nearest challenger was the New Zealander, D. Hulme, who lapped in Imin 28.9 sec in the latest McLaren car. Next came the Briton, J. Miles (8.R.M.), with Imin 29.1 sec.
