Scots beat England

flf.Z. Press Assn— Copyright) LONDON. Scotland rallied magnificently to beat England, 16-15 in the international Rugby championship match at Twickenham on Saturday. A try by C. Rea one minute from the end, converted by P. Brown, clinched victory for the Scots. A few minutes earlier D. Paterson had scored an unconverted try, the first step in Scotland’s dramatic victory rally. It was Scotland’s first win at Twickenham for 33 years and only its third victory on the ground. And it was also Scotland’s ony win in this season’s international championship. R. Hiller scored all but three of England’s 15 points with two tries and two penalty goals, bringing his total in three internationals this season to 35 points. A. Neary got a try—the only England score in three

matches not gained by Hiller. Ironically, England’s failure to win this Calcutta Cup match was due to some extent to Hiller being off form with his kicking. Though he scored 12 points, he missed three other penalty attempts and two conversions.

Hero of Scotland’s great win was its captain and No. 8, P. Brown, whose superb performance must have played him into the British Lions team to be announced today for the tour of New Zealand.

After scoring a try and coverting another, he provided the pass from which Rea added'the final try, and then converted it to snatch the match for his team. D. Paterson also kicked a dropped goal. The championship table is:

P W D L F A Pts Wales 3 3 0 0 64 33 6 France 3 1 2 0 36 31 4 Ireland 4 1 1 2 31 46 3 England 4 1 1 2 44 58 3 Scotland 4 1 0 3 47 64 2 France will play Wales in Paris on March 27.
