Journalists’ safety
France has announced a draft international convention for the protection of journalists on dangerous missions. The convention, which is to be submitted in Geneva shortly to the United Nations Human Rights Commission, would provide journalists on dangerous missions with safe-conduct cards. Dangerous missions would mean any reporting assignments carried out in areas where an armed conflict, whether or not of an international character, was taking place.—Geneva, March 19.
