Pipe band titles
(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, March 19. Auckland's Pipes and Drums of Innas Tartan won the A grade test selection at the first day of the New Zealand pipe band championships In Dunedin today. In the B grade quickstep, the Horowhenua Pina Band carried off first prise. Results were:— A grade.—Test selection: The Pipes and Drums of Innes Tartan (633.5 points) 1, City of Wellington (625), 2, Scottish Society of New Zealand (613.4) 3. B grade.—Drum-major’s display: City of Auckland (144) 1, North Canterbury Caledonian (141) 2, Temuka (136.4) 3. Quickstep: Horowhenua (584) 1. Balclutha (572.4) 2, Christchurch Metropolitan (557.8) 3. C grade.—Drum-major’s display: Methven Caledonian (149.8) 1, Waim ate (132) and Pipes and Drums of Wellington City (132) (equal) 2. Quickstep: Ashburton County Scottish (506.2) 1, Levin Scottish (496.5) 2, City of Christ, church Ladies (495.7) 3.
