N.Z. praised by tourist

Praise for New Zealand’s scenery and of the work of the Government Tourist Bureau has been expressed in a letter to “The Press” from Mrs A. W. Roth, of New York. All 16 overseas tourists on a recent tour of New Zealand were breathless at the stupendous South Island scenery, she has written, and all were impressed at the appreciation of his country shown by the coach driver, Mr P. Casey, of Timaru. Mr Casey realised that what was drawing tourists to New Zealand was the country’s placid beauty, Mrs Roth wrote, and she prayed that New Zealand might never fall prey to the “overexpansion,” which was prov- ' ing ruinous in other parts of the world.

“Happily the New Zealand Government Tourist Bureau appears to me to have a commendable sense of ‘all things in balanced moderation,’ and a matching policy,” Mrs Roth wrote. “May God and New Zealanders preserve it so.”

Closed circuit—A bill to ban the showing of major sports events on closed circuit television in the United States will be Introduced next week by Mr Les Aspin (Democrat, Wisconsin).
