N.Z. SHOW TEAM
Two horses injured (N.Z. Presi Assn.—Copyright) NEWCASTLE. Two horses belonging to the New Zealand Horse Society’s touring show jumping team, which arrived in Newcastle on Tuesday, have been side-lined because of injuries.
The team of four men and a woman, with six horses, will compete against members of a New South Wales Show Jumping Association team, in a three-day interDominion show jumping contest at the Newcastle Show which has already begun. Fluid has been drawn from the knee of one of the injured hoses, Fiddlers Three, which suffered a knock when he pulled a rail at the Queanbey Show, near Canberra, earlier on the tour.
The other injured horse, a bay gelding, Hard Case, has tendon trouble and may be sent home ahead of schedule. Fiddlers Three is owned by the team captain, G. Thomas, of Waihi, and Hard Case by J. Cottle, of Wellington. Thomas has another horse, a chestnut gelding, East End, but Cottle is without a mount.
