Adjoining houses on fire
I (N.Z. Press Association) ‘ WELLINGTON, Feb. 14.
Ten persons dressed only in their night attire fled an early-morning fire in two adjoining houses in the central part of Wellington today. The fire was first noticed in the laundry of one of the houses, and swiftly spread to the neighbouring house. The proximity of the houses obstructed the 30 firemen and four engines attending the blaze.
Those tenants who could not return to their flats spent the rest of the night with friends and relatives.
