New Australian weekly
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, February 7. A new national weekly newspaper, the “National Times.” published by John Fairfax and Sons, Ltd, and pric-ed at 20c, was sold in Sydney yesterday. In an editorial entitled “Why we’re here,” the chairman of John Fairfax (Sir Warwick Fairfax) . said: “When a nation is reaching intellectual maturity it demands a treatment of world affairs over and above what can be given by a daily newspaper of however good quality. “. . . People want to consider the broader issues and long-term aspects of the city, the nation, and the world they live in.”
The Fairfax group publishes the "Sydney Morning Herald,” the afternoon newspaper the “Sun,” and the daily “Australian Financial Review.”
