Century by Morgan
(NZ. Press Association) AUCKLAND. The test batsman, R. W. Morgan, scored 102—his third century of the season—for Auckland against the national under-23 side yesterday. Morgan, captain for the match, closed the Auckland innings at 274 for eight, and in the remaining 66 minutes the under-23s made 39 for one.
Morgan batted for 219 minutes and hit 15 fours. His season’s aggregate in firstclass games now stands at 586 from 11 completed innings.
Scores: Auckland 274/8 declared (Morgan 102, K. Parker 61, R. E. Redmond 42; W. A. Greenstreet 4/58). Under 235, 39/1 (G. A. Newdick 26 not out).
Cricket.—Hutt Valley beat Marlborough by 130 runs in a representative cricket match that ended at Hutt yesterday. Scores: Hutt Valley 208/7 declared and 197/3 declared (I. R. Schofer 54, B. D, Coley 46), Marlborough 129 and 146 (A. Sowman 58 not put; G. T. McConnell 7/61).
