LIFTERS QUALIFY

No problem for Bolton (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. The Commonwealth Games Silver medallist, J. A. Bolton, and Auckland lighti weight, P. Sue, qualified for selection in the New Zealand team to take part in the first Australasian weight-lifting championships in Melbourne on March 6. ! Bolton was set a qualifying I mark of 8871 b in the mid-heavy-weight division and he had no problems. His 9521 b was far below his best. Sue equalled the qualifying standard in the light-weight division when he lifted a total of 7161 b.

Bolton pressed 3191 b, snatched 2811 b and clean and jerked 3521 b for his 9521 b total. Sue pressed 2091 b and clean and jerked 2861 b. They now join two other Commonwealth medallists, B. A. Cameron (Auckland) and T. Ebert (Canterbury), who have qualified so far.
