Suffolks in demand
(N.Z. Press Association) FEILDING, Feb. 5. The inaugural national sale of Suffolk and South Suffolk sheep held at Feilding drew entries from as far south as Central Otago and buyers from Christchurch to Gisborne and Whangarei. Prices were good, and almost all the entries were sold. Eighty-four Suffolk ewes sold for an average of $92 and 90 South Suffolk ewes for $54. Nine Suffolk rams sold for a $333 average, and six South Suffolks for $164. W. H. Jolly (Tairas) sold four Suffolk rams for an average of $435, with a top sale of $5OO, paid by Mr J. A. Lampp (Marton). Mr E. A. Banner (Feilding) paid $470 for a second ram from the Jolly stud. Mrs M. A. Millar (Temuka) sold four South Suffolk ewes at an average of $4l, C. and L. Leighton (Waimate), eight ewes for $6B, and G. D. Neave (Irwell), nine ewes for $5l.
The principal buyer of Suffolk ewes was Cheskin Farm (Little River), and of South Suffolks, R. J. Christie (Gore). Two South Suffolk rams sold at $320 and $325.
