The Canterbury Rowing Association is to hold a regatta this afternoon on Kerr’s Reach in place of the annual Kaiapoi event. The Cure club, Kaiapoi, was not able to stage a meeting because of the lack of oarsmen in the district, and it was decided by the association to provide Canterbury crews with a chance to compete against each other before the national championships at Lake Karipiro in March. Included in the programme are races for single sculls, double sculls, fours, eights and pairs in the senior class, and fours races in the maiden, novice and junior divisions.
