Tariff on imports from South Africa
Sir, —Let us insist that businessmen importing goods from South Africa first apply to Mr M. O’Neill, H.A.L.T. (Hate All Little Tariffs), who will assess some terrific tariff as the price we consumers must pay to humour his dislike for anything South African. Exporters already know after the “Air-tourer” incident that they are expected to obtain first the sanction of Mr Newnham, C.A.R.E. (Chief Authority Regarding Exports) before exporting goods to South Africa.—Yours, etc., G. M. EDMONDS. February 5, 1971.
