RECRUIT TO RUGBY
Lions wing in Aust. (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) SYDNEY. The Scottish and British Lions wing, S. Hinshelwood, is to play for the Gordon club in this year’s Sydney Rugby competition, the Sydney “Morning Herald” reported yesterday. Hinshelwood, aged 28, arrived in Australia a week ago with his New Zealand-born wife, and will begin training next week with Gordon, the 1969 Sydney champion. The newspaper said that Hinshelwood, one of the world’s best Rugby wingers, would be eligible to play for Australia this season against touring British and South African sides.
A player of his talent would be almost impossible to overlook when picking an Australian test side, the paper added. Hinshelwood, who toured Australia with the Lions in 1966, was invited to join the Gordon club when officials heard he was considering moving to Australia. Hinshelwood has taken a job with an international computer company.
