New theory on hole in bus
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 7. A hole in the side of a Regional Authority bus thought to have been caused by a .22 calibre rifle shot at Ellerslie last night might have been caused by a dislodged rivet, police said today. The hole appeared about 10ft behind the driver’s seat, just below window level. The driver, the sole occupant, heard a bang and stopped. The panelling is being taken off the bus at the workshops to check the theory that a rivet popped out.
