The decision bars players such as the Lancashire wicket-keeper, Farokh Engineer, from selection for the forthcoming tours of the West Indies and England. At a special meeting in Bangalore, the board also agreed to play a festival match in Bombay next year, to commemorate the centenary of Ranji’s birth. Overseas cricketers, particularly jfrom Ranji’s English county, j Sussex, would be invited to take part.
