KINGS CUP TO FRANCE

(N.Z. Press Association) COPENHAGEN. The French tennis team won the King’s Cup when it beat Denmark 2*l in the final. West Germany finished third after winning a play-off against Italy by the same margin. France clinched its victory when J.-P. Chanfreau and G. Goven won the doubles, 6-3, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4, 7-5, against J. Leschly and J. Ulrich after the singles had been tied. Leschly gave Denmark a 1-0 lead with a convincing 6*l. 6*3 victory over Govens in the open* ing singles, but Chanfreau levelled for France when he won the second singles against Ulrich, 6-3, 8-6. Chanfreau spearheaded France’s victory in the deciding doubles, in spite of losing his temper over several line calls.
