SINGING AWARD
Proceeds from a concert given in Auckland last April by Peter Pears and Benjamin Britten will be used to finance an annual scholarship to the conservatorium of music at Auckland University. This was announced by Associate Professor T. Rive, acting head of the conservatorium. To be known as the PearsBritten Scholarship in Singing, the award will be administered by the Auckland Chamber Music Society. It will be awarded annually to a student either enrolling or already enrolled for a degree or diploma course in singing at the conservatorium. The initial value of the scholarship will be $2OO, but it is planned to increase the amount periodically to keep up with inflationary trends.
