Rise and fall
Car thefts are increasing in Italy, but sex crimes, kidnapping, assault and violent theft are on the decline, according to the Minister of the Interior (Mr Franco Restivo). He told reporters that 85,271 cars were stolen during the first nine months of the year —nearly double the number for the same period of 1968 but murder was down by 6.51 per cent, assault by 10.98 per cent, kidnapping by 13.68 per cent, and rape by 4.34 per cent.—Milan, November 23.
