Trade practices charges
<N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 23. Charges of alleged breaches of the Trade Practices Act laid against Alex Harvey Industries, Ltd, and U.E.B. Packaging, Ltd, were adjourned until January 29 in the Wellington Magistrate’s Court.
The adjournment was granted by Mr J. A. Wicks, S.M., on Friday at the request of the defendants.
Alex Harvey and U.E.B. are charged with agreeing on prices or terms or with agreeing that one or the other abstain from submitting a tender for a supply of goods. There are 12 complainants —D omin i o n Industries, National Cash Register, Carlton Industries, Auckland Seine Boat Association, Mon Desir Cosmetique, Sunbeam. N.Z, Ltd, Hugo Snessel, Ltd, Cashmore McMichol. Ltd, Hotters N.Z., Ltd, J. R. Dalton, Vivian Knights and Dricopy, N.Z., Ltd. The two companies are further charged that being wholesalers they tendered to the Department of Education for the supply of cardboard boxes at prices arranged between them.
A similar charge against Alex Harvey and Coulls Somerville Wilkie was also adjourned.
