Watersiders’ conference

The national conference ,of the New Zealand Waterside Workers’ Federation opened in the Horticultural Hall yesterday with the presentation of reports by the president (Mr R. J. Wasley), and the vice-president (Mr N. Quinlan), and other business. The conference was opened by the member of Parliament for Lyttelton, Mr T. E. McGuigan), and will continue until Friday. The main topic of discussion was national unity. The Auckland branch of the federation, which represents a quarter of the watersiders in the country, broke away recently in a dispute.
