Vital service by boat
(N.Z. Presa Aasoeiaiion) INVERCARGILL, Nov. 22. The serioug shortage of food and diesel fuel-dll on Stewart Island is being alleviated with a ‘‘life-line 1 ’ service from the Bluff fishing boat, Rita. The boats delivered 920 gallons of diesel on Friday to replenish storage tanks which were running dry and threatening to stop many of the electricity-generators on the island. It made the trip again today, carrying food. The two vessels usually used to service the island, the ferry, Wairua, and the Southland Harbour Board tug Hauroko, are held up at Port Chalmers.
