VACANCY PROFESSIONAL NURSING SISTER NEW HEBRIDES BrItISH NATIONAL SERVICE THE New Hebrides British Medical Service seeks a qualified Sister for its Hospital at Lenakel, Tanna, New Hebrides, to take up duties in February, 1971. TERM OF SERVICE: On contract for two years—contract may be renewed by mutual agreement. QUALIFICATIONS: Age under 35 preferred. R.N. with Midwifery qualifications, and at least two years experience in general nursing and midwifery. Experience in teaching or willingness to teach local staff desirable. Any experience in Public Health nursing also an advantage. >

DUTIES: General duties of nursing sister in a 36-bed rural hospital with a Medical Officer, one' other expatriate nursing sister, locally trained nurses and other New Hebridean staff. Duties also include visiting villages on the. island with a mobile clinic, doing MC.H. work and public health nursing; teaching local staff as part of a programme of in-service training. SALAftY AND ALLOWANCES:

The salary scale including gratuity runs from $4200 p.a. to $A6680 p.a. and is made up of:— Basic figure, $A1644 to $A3012 P.a., Inducement allowance, £Stg636 to £StgB22 p.a. Territorial allowance, 15 p.c. of total of above. Gratuity 25 p.c. of basic salary and Inducement allowance.

Gratuity is payable at the end of the contract period. There is no taxation. Point of entry on the scale depends upon experience and qualifications. Holiday pay for a two-year term is four days for each month of residential service and is paid as a terminal grant calculated on basic salary plus Inducement Allowance and gratuity. Should a contract be renewed holiday leave on the same rates would be allowed at five days for each month of residential service plus air passages to and from New Zealand.
