Bonus for railwaymen
Most general division railI way workers will receive an I extra payment of $6O before Christmas, as an advance on their next ruling rate increase. Juniors and apprentices will receive an advance of $3O; carpenters and painters, $2O. Workers who joined the railways after August 1 will receive proportionately smaller amounts. The next ruling rate survey will be conducted in February, and the increase j will be paid from about May and back-dated from October 1 of this year—less, of course, whatever amount has already been paid out. Railway workers will also be paid the 3 per cent general wage order, even though they are not legally entitled to it.
